Canadian Law Students' Association

Blame it on the weather in the north, but Canadians currently make up roughly 20% of the entire law school, which is why it is imperative that we have a voice. Enter the CLSA. You may be a million miles away from home, but the CLSA is here, working for you. Your friendly executive is here to represent you to the rest of the student body, the administration and the staff.

Some of the Work the CLSA does

The CLSA's main function is to make life easier for you at Bond University. As an international student, you join Bond's extensive network of full time or study abroad (semesterly) populace. It is the goal of the CLSA to ensure that your time at Bond is well spent and that you get the most out of your undergraduate or post graduate experience regardless of what your next step is.

With that in mind, here is a small list of the work we do:

  • The Welcome BBQ (Week 1 of every semester). This is an excellent opportunity to meet new and returning Bondies and your professors at a very informal occasion.
  • Clubs Sign On Day (Week 1 of every semester). Come find us at the CLSA table to learn more about the work we do and how to get involved.
  • St. Patrick's Day (around Week 10 of 091) - Australians do not usually make a big deal about being (or pretending to be) Irish. We do. Join us for all things green and gold (incidentally, Australia's colours).
  • Canada Day (around Week 8 of 092) - Miss home? So do we. We bring a little piece of Canada to Bond on this very special occasion.
  • Halloween Party - You will not freeze in your costume this time around. The end of October in Australia is HOT! But not nearly as hot as the costumes we come up with for the 3-time-voted "BEST EVENT". Never to be missed.
  • Info Sessions - Guest speakers, NCA information sessions and so much more! We are here to help you make the most of your degree whether you are going home, staying here or planning something completely different. With deadlines, fees and cut-offs, we make your future a little clearer.
  • Interested in running the show? The CLSA holds its elections in 101. It is an excellent way to get involved.

In addition, the CLSA does a mail-out to Canadian law firms in every May semester that includes information about the Faculty of Law at Bond University and the successes of its law students. If you wish to have information about Bond directed to a particular law firm, please send the full name of the firm and the city in which it is located to sidney.rua@student.bond.edu.au.

Who can join?

Anyone who has been or is currently a Bond student. The Association is not limited to Canadian law students and we encourage all students to join in an effort to enhance the community atmosphere at Bond.

How do I join?

Please contact a CLSA representative AND join our Facebook group: Canadians at Bond University. By joining the Facebook group you will be kept up to date about all CLSA events. If you have trouble joining, ensure you are part of the "Bond" network first.

How do I become further involved?

The CLSA is always grateful of volunteers who are willing to help out at our events. If you are willing to lend a hand to your fellow Canucks, please let us know!
