Canadian Law Students' Association

Blame it on the weather up north, but Canadians currently make up roughly 20% of the entire law school, which is why it is crucial that we have a voice. Canadians are thousands of kilometers away from home, but the CLSA is here to make the transition as smooth as possible. Your friendly executive represents you to the rest of the student body, the administration and the staff.

Our Work

The CLSA's main function is to make life easier for Canadians at Bond University. As an international student, you join Bond's extensive network of full time or study abroad students. The goal of the CLSA is to ensure that Canadian students get the most out of their undergraduate or post graduate experiences regardless of whether they choose to stay in Australia or return home to Canada. We also try to provide both educational and social activities throughout each semester.

  • The Welcome BBQ (Week 1 of every semester) is an excellent opportunity to meet new and returning Bondies as well as professors.
  • Club Sign On Day (Week 1 of every semester) provides a chance to learn more about the work we do and how to get involved.
  • St. Patrick's Day (coming in 111) is also celebrated by the CLSA. Join us for all things green and gold (incidentally, Australia's colours).
  • Canada Day (coming in 112) is a night not to miss, especially if you miss home! The CLSA tries to bring a little piece of Canada to Bond on this very special occasion.
  • The Halloween Party (coming in 103) hosted by the CLSA has been voted BEST EVENT 3 times! For once, you will not freeze in your costume!
  • Info Sessions are held to help Canadian students make the most of their degree, whether going home, staying in Australia or planning something completely different. With deadlines, fees and cut-offs, we make your future a little clearer by providing guest speakers, NCA and immigration information sessions and free pizza!
  • Elections (coming in 103) will be held for the next Executive in 111. This is an excellent way to get involved on campus.

In addition, the CLSA does a mail-out to Canadian law firms in every May semester, which includes information about the Faculty of Law at Bond University and the successes of its law students. If you wish to have information about Bond directed to a particular law firm, please send the full name of the firm and the city in which it is located to julie.kizemchuk@student.bond.edu.au

Who can join

Any current or past Bond student. The Association is not limited to Canadian law students and we encourage all students to join in an effort to enhance the community atmosphere at Bond.

How to join

Please contact a CLSA representative and join our Facebook group, Canadians at Bond University. We will use this Facebook group to keep students up to date about all CLSA events. If you have trouble joining, ensure you are part of the "Bond" network first.

How to become involved

The CLSA is always grateful of volunteers who are willing to help out at our events. If you are willing to lend a hand to your fellow Canucks, please let us know!
